Computer Vision Engineer

Location: Eindhoven (Strijp-T) | Hours: 40 hours per week | Employment type: Direct employment

We’re looking for a Computer Vision Engineer to join the Control team!

You’ll bring computer vision expertise to our team, initially focusing on helping our driving and flying robots localise reliably in the real world. Your work will provide a foundation for autonomous navigation, with opportunities to contribute to broader perception capabilities, such as object tracking and scene understanding, as our products evolve.

You’ll develop solutions that work on real robots, taking their hardware capabilities, limitations and operating environments into account. Computer vision will be your speciality, but not your only activity: as part of a multidisciplinary team, you’ll also contribute to other robotics software and autonomy challenges as product and project needs change.

🚀 YOUR MISSION

  • Develop vision-based functionality from prototype to reliable deployment, with an initial focus on localisation through techniques such as optical flow, visual odometry and map matching.

  • Work on core product development and create custom solutions for customer applications.

  • Deploy and validate your algorithms on real robots, assessing their accuracy, robustness and computational requirements.

  • Collaborate with robotics and software engineers, and align your approach with system architects.

  • Document your approach and results, and test your software against specified requirements.

  • Analyse logs and ROS bags to evaluate performance and investigate reported issues.

  • Contribute your expertise to broader robotics challenges and propose improvements to our robots’ perception and autonomy.

⚡ WHO YOU ARE

  • You have a Master’s degree or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Control Systems, Mathematics or a related field.

  • You preferably bring 3+ years of professional experience in computer vision or robotics, with computer vision as a core strength.

  • You have strong analytical skills and an algorithmic mindset, with experience in geometric computer vision. Relevant areas include camera calibration, motion estimation, optical flow, camera-based SLAM and map matching.

  • You have deployed algorithms on robotic or embedded hardware and validated their performance through experiments and recorded sensor data, preferably outside the lab.

  • You have hands-on experience with OpenCV and are comfortable developing with C++, ROS 2, Linux and Git.

  • You are familiar with working in larger software projects, including managing dependencies, versioning, releases and system deployment.

  • You enjoy working with mobile robots and are willing to contribute beyond computer vision when the team or project needs it.

  • You communicate clearly in spoken and written English.

We also welcome complementary experience in other sensing technologies, such as depth cameras, time-of-flight sensors or radar; learning-based perception and GPU acceleration; or software tooling such as Docker, automated testing frameworks and CI/CD. These are useful additions, not prerequisites.
